This is one of the premier BBQ cookoffs on the KCBS circuit. This year will be our 12th year of sanctioning of the Roots Festival’s BBQ Cookoff aka East Central KS State BBQ Championship. The competition will feature maximum of 65 teams smoking up what promises to be some of the best BBQ in the world. The festival features some of the finest music available on the BBQ circuit, as well as plenty of kid’s activities, arts, crafts and food. This contest is geared for the backyard smoker all the way to the trailer type smokers. Check-in starts at 10 a.m. on Friday with a judges meeting that night around 7 p.m. The BBQ categories are Chicken, Ribs, Pork Butt, Beef Brisket as well as Sausage.

We also have a Kids-Q with two age groups from 10-U and 15-U. The Kids-Q has grown each year and is a great time for all the kids involved. This contest fills up earlier each year so do not wait.
